Throstle's Nest is a beautifully reimagined cottage, originally part of a historic row of dwellings that have served various purposes over the centuries. Built around 1800, the cottage began as a modest home with a single room downstairs and a scullery/kitchen at the rear. Upstairs, there were two bedrooms, likely accommodating at least four agricultural workers.
Over the years, the cottage has seen many transformations. It has functioned as part of a girls' school, a dairy, and later returned to being a residence. At one point, it was connected to the neighboring cottages, forming a larger house that included number 11. The current owners lovingly restored Throstle's Nest to its original status as a standalone cottage, carefully preserving its charm and heritage. Situated within a conservation area and recognized as a listed building in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the restoration was carried out using traditional materials and methods to honor its history and maintain its character. Special thanks to Frank, Dave and Wayne for your fantastic work.
